River Meter and Waterway Gauges brought to your website |
River Meter - River Height Content Delivered to your web site
River Meter Data streams are delivered as cut and paste elements or snippets that can be pasted into the code of your web site very much like a YouTube Video.
Regardless of the complex path of how the data gets to you, River Meter takes the data from the USGS database and converts it into content that your viewers can use right now!
Information Quality: Here is a quote from the USGS web site: ''Access to national water resources real-time data typically recorded at 15-60 minute intervals, stored on site, and then transmitted to USGS offices every 4 hours.''
In our opinion we have observed many stations being updated much more often than the every four hours sited above, frequently we see new updated data every 5 to 30 minutes. River Meter polls its live subscriber sites every 30 minutes at 5 minutes after the half hour.
When River Meter’s servers poll the USGS servers every 30 minutes we report to you exactly what we get from the gauges even if it means reporting that the river is dry or full of ice, which, if you think about it, is still good information for your viewers. If we do not have a current reading we display the last good reading along with the date and time. If in our surveys we find the frequency of updates faster we may offer faster polling on a site by site basis.
